Challenge:

A car wax manufacturer wanted to use social media to connect and engage with an audience of car enthusiasts, promoting their product as becoming the leading voice in the car care industry.

Solution:

  • Develop a presence on social media channels to reach, engage and interact with target audiences on a grassroots personal level.
  • To build a community of brand ambassadors who endorse the brand and actively promote it to their friends.
  • To boost the amount of buzz (average brand mentions per day) while increasing the sentiment (positive brand references) across the social media sphere.
  • Become a leading voice in the car care industry, known for posting interesting and exciting content, which followers actively choose to pass to their friends
  • Social media was recommended as the ideal platform to reach target audiences, instead of focusing heavily on the brand website, as a channel to pro-actively converse with audiences promoting key messages and product information
  • Facebook and Twitter were selected as key channels for this activity due to their popularity among target audience demographics

Implementation:

  • Search facilities were used to find and engage with anyone talking about keywords such as ‘car wash’.
  • Content that would be viewed as interesting and exciting by target audiences was posted on social media channels to initiate engagement and generate additional buzz and positive sentiment
  • To ensure the company established itself as a leading voice in the car care field, we subscribed to a number of news monitoring services, which provide instant updates on breaking news. This facility means that the client always has the most up to date content, establishing the brand as the leading voice in the car care industry, with audiences relying on the brand for their news updates.

Result:

  • Bespoke merchandise (key rings etc..) were used as a tool to generate buzz and engagement through competitions on both Facebook and Twitter
  • Asking questions and using phrasing that provokes engagement, increased buzz on Facebook and Twitter which has now travelled to other platforms including blogs and forums

This activity has generated an average weekly fan/follower growth of 48% on Facebook and 11% on Twitter. This is stimulating 100 engagements a day on these 2 channels alone.
