With their first season in rugby union's premiership, Exeter Chiefs rugby has certainly evolved during our time working with them. For four seasons now, Rokk Media has helped the Chiefs realise their objectives on the web - and have helped develop a few more. By creating a portal for team news, fixtures, results, community news and a whole host of other information, Rokk Media have been able to help the Chiefs maintain a very high profile, as well as engaging with their loyal fans.
Bringing together the development of a number of bespoke modules and an extremely flexible CMS has been an essential part of the Chiefs' website development. Making sure that the fans are able to engage and keep up to date with the latest information is key which has made RSS, Twitter, and fixtures and results feeds an integral part of the sites structure.
The site also needed to offer fans the opportunity to buy season tickets, sponsor the team and it's players and purchase Chiefs merchandise. With the onset of their first season in the premiership, Exeter Chiefs are now looking to add more interactive elements to their website that include video interviews with key players, match highlights, team blogs, insights into the Chiefs' training, behind the scenes, an official community section and a whole host more...watch this space.
An integral part of the Chiefs' marketing strategy is to keep in contact with it's fans. With one of the highest open rates and a continuous stream of new subscribers, the Exeter Chiefs newsletter facility has really been a success. Fans are regularly emailed with updates on the latest news, views and special offers. With the ability to track who opens newsletters, click throughs and send followup emails, Exeter Chiefs have been able to really target their key audiences with information that is relevant and of interest.
Social media marketing
As a truly forward thinking club who really want to communicate with their fans, Exeter Chiefs have always been keen to make the most of marketing opportunities via social media. Match day Twitter feeds, community websites, topical blogs and making the most of third party services such as Facebook and YouTube has really made the Chiefs accessible to a very wide ranging fan base.

In addition to working closely with Michelmores (on marketing projects), Rokk Media has also provided a pro-bono website (www.alexbennet.co.uk) for me and my sailing partner, Alex Bennett which supported our successful campaign in last year's Round Britain and Ireland Race. Not only did the website raise our profile significantly, but it also helped to raise over Â£4,000 for Hospiscare.
